When printing maps at home, be sure that your printer settings do not scale the map larger or smaller than the original.

After printing, use a reliable protractor to ensure that the grid lines and distance scale at the bottom are proportioned properly. If not, adjust your printer setting and try again.

If the map size and protractor does not match, you will never plot an accurate grid point or calculate a proper azimuth or distance.
